210TH Anniversary of
the battle of Ligny
More than 1,000 soldiers, civilians, and craftsmen recreated a historic bivouac, with rows of tents, wood fires, stacked rifles, and the smell of soup in the air.
At the symbolic site of Ligny 1815, troops and historical bands gathered for a moving commemoration. Speeches, national anthems, and tributes honored both soldiers and civilians.
Then the battle came to life. One thousand soldiers, twenty cannons, and fifty horses reenacted the 1815 clash between Blücher and Napoleon. Shouted orders, charging cavalry, drums, and cannon fire created a powerful and immersive experience.
Through my photographs, I captured the atmosphere, emotion, and intensity of this living history.
